India’s marketing campaign throughout the 2018 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in West Indies was hit by a giant controversy when reviews emerged of Mithali Raj and group coach Ramesh Powar will not be seeing eye to eye. The fissures emerged when Mithali, a senior batter, was dropped from India’s match opener with Powar later citing her sluggish strike-rate as the rationale behind his name.

“Harmanpreet, as the team captain, was clear that the decision had been collectively taken to play the winning combination. In this decision, the team selector and coach had been involved. She, of course, was not aware of when this news was conveyed to Mithali,” he wrote.

Mithali although felt her exclusion was unfair and the style through which she got here to know about it was humiliating.

“On the opposite hand, Mithali felt that in addition to her exclusion not being justified, the style through which it was conveyed to her had been most humiliating. She stated that she had been stored at the hours of darkness concerning the determination and it was simply earlier than the 2 captains went for the toss that the coach had knowledgeable her,” Rai wrote.
