Veteran Kannada actor Prakash Belawadi, who’s a part of the lately launched film ‘The Kashmir Files’, has apologised for his silence on the plight of Kashmiri Pandits. He appreciated writer-director Vivek Agnihotri for his position within the movie which launched on Friday and said that regardless of being a journalist in Nineteen Nineties throughout the mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits, he selected to be detached to the destiny meted out to them. Belawadi has put out a video on this regard and appealed to individuals to look at the film.

“I’m privileged to be a part of ‘The Kashmir Files’. When I used to be despatched the script for studying by Vivek Agnihotri, I used to be shocked as a result of till then I didn’t have particulars of the horrors and exodus of Kashmiri pandits from the state of Jammu and Kashmir in Nineteen Nineties,” he said.

Expressing his guilt for keeping silent on the issue, he said: “I feel mortified, I also feel guilty as I was a journalist at that time and prided myself as someone equipped with the contemporary events, but I see it was not the case. I feel it’s correct for me to apologise to the community for being a part of this indifference for a long period.”
