
Bangladesh premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been granted a break from all types of cricket until April 30 to take care of “psychological stress” and “fatigue”, ruling him out of the upcoming South Africa sequence that runs until April 8.
The practically two-month break would imply that Shakib may even miss the Dhaka Premier League, the place he was anticipated to play for Mohammedan Sporting.
Following Bangladesh Cricket Board’s resolution, the native membership is now mulling to attraction to the BCB.
The 34-year-old, who was not picked by any of the IPL franchises, was initially named within the ODI and Test squads for the South Africa tour.

“He’s mentally stressed and fatigued. He told me at this point of time, he is not enjoying any form of cricket,” BCB cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus advised reporters on Wednesday.
“He all the time stated one factor that he’s not having fun with, unfit and never prepared. Since he’s ‘mentally fatigued and physically stressed’, after dialogue with the CEO and the president, we have now determined to provide him relaxation from all types of cricket until April 30.”
“Shakib is an all-rounder, an important player for us. We have the World Cup coming up, We want him for one more big series and if a player wants to skip and not enjoying, we want to give him complete rest and spend time with his family.”
Club mulling attraction on Shakib’s break
Upset with the event, his native franchise Mohammedan Sporting will attraction for a rest on Shakib’s break as he is a crucial cog of their assault within the DPL.
“The resolution that the board gave could be very disappointing for us since Shakib didn’t as soon as point out that he had any issues taking part in home cricket,” Masud Uz Zaman, cricket committee chairman of Mohammedan SC, told The Daily Star.
“We are sitting tomorrow (Thursday) with the cricket committee and we will try to make an appeal (regarding Shakib). We don’t know what will happen but we will try. If we do make an appeal, it has to be tomorrow,” he added.
On Sunday, Shakib cooked up a storm saying he’s feeling careworn and never bodily and mentally match to play the South Africa sequence as BCB president Nazmul Hassan questioned his dedication.
“I believe it’s logical to assume that if he was in a poor bodily and psychological state, he wouldn’t have given his identify within the IPL … But he went forward with it. So, does it imply that if he acquired his IPL contract, he would have stated the identical factor?” Hassan questioned.
Shakib had last month pulled out of the Test series in New Zealand and since 2017 the premier all-rounder has featured in 15 of the 33 Tests played by Bangladesh.
